According to a post on Xiaomi’s MIUI forums by super moderator Mitch002, the company has decided to drop the ‘Note’ moniker, and the successor to Redmi Note 4 has already been launched. The post adds that Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus, launched on December 7 in China, are the new Note-sized phones, and will remain the only large-screen affordable phones from the company.

Configuration

Under the hood, the Redmi Note 5 holds a 2.0GHz octa-core seated in on a chipset of Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, coupled with 4GB RAM to deliver a seamless performance while multitasking or gaming. A GPU of Adreno 506 takes care of the graphical requirements with ease

The Redmi Note 5 features a 5.99-inch display with a resolution of 1,080 x 1,920, resulting in a density of 403 pixels per inch.

Camera

The Redmi Note 5 is equipped with a 12MP rear camera with CMOS image sensor and features like Phase Detection autofocus, dual-LED flash, Touch to focus, etc. The phone has also been provided with a 5MP front camera, for selfies and video calling.

Storage

The Redmi Note 5 is equipped with an internal storage of 64GB, which can be expanded further up to 128 GB with the help of a microSD card.
